Mission Central is a nonprofit registered with the IRS under section 501c3 and with the PA Bureau of Corporations and Charitable Organizations. Mission Central first opened in 2002 as a mission of the Central Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church, now known as the Susquehanna Conference. In 2020, the assets and operations of Mission Central migrated to a newly formed non-profit corporation, Mission Central, Inc. Although Mission Central, Inc. is now a separate entity, we retain a close affiliation and partnership with our friends at the Susquehanna Conference.
Their mission is “Connecting God’s Resources with Human Need.” This is accomplished by following three areas of focus…Mission Outreach, Mission Education, and Disaster Response. By partnering with over 180 different organizations, we provide resources to groups who are doing humanitarian work locally, across the country, and around the world. Additionally, we stand ready to respond to all weather-related disasters or emergencies that occur.
Mission Central is one of six warehouses that provide the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), an organization that provides disaster relief and humanitarian aid to over 80 countries worldwide, with all of their needed resources used in disaster response efforts. Trinity Church collects items for various UMCOR Relief Kits (School, Birthing, Health, Sewing, Flood Buckets) during certain times of the year.
Mission Central is also the place to donate your household goods, furniture, clothing, and even computers. You’d be amazed at how much good that old couch or unused medical supplies can do!
New Hope Ministries is a Christian social service agency that shows the love and hope of Christ by serving our neighbors in times of need and supporting their efforts towards stability, They provide a variety of assistance and services. Trinity Church collects food for their Food Pantry and donates snacks and drinks for their after-school program in New Cumberland. Members of our congregation also help at the Food Pantry.
Assisting Students and Kids
As Trinity church has done in the past, we are again collecting food and toiletry items for the needy students of West Shore School District. Please consider bringing items into the church and putting them on the designated table in the hallway. This project provides dignity, anonymity and a basic need to these students PLUS Trinity church is supporting OUR Community with this effort. CLICK HERE for a list of the preferred items. Will you continue to help with this cause? Please contact Cathy Baum @ (717)-774-0907 for further information. Thanks to all who have supported this project.
One day, an old man was walking along a beach that was littered with thousands of starfish that had been washed ashore by the high tide. As he walked he came upon a young boy who was eagerly throwing the starfish back into the ocean, one by one. Puzzled, the man looked at the boy and asked what he was doing. Without looking up from his task, the boy simply replied, “I’m saving these starfish, Sir”. The old man chuckled aloud, “Son, there are thousands of starfish and only one of you. What
difference can you make?” The boy picked up a starfish, gently tossed it into the water, and turning to the man, said, “I made a difference to that one!”
Starfish Ministries was begun by Carol Crossley and her family by simply visiting the street people of Harrisburg with cold water, snacks, blankets, ground mats, and hand warmers. Many other friends, neighbors, and family have joined them, including Trinity Church. Trinity has opted to join in this venture as we go to the streets the 2nd Sunday of each month to serve homeless men, women, and children by directing them to support resources, distributing needed items, praying for/with them, and giving the personal touch like a hug or a listening ear. Please contact Carol Crossley at 717-379-9030 or email for more information
Vickie's Angel Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit with a mission of helping families fighting cancer who have difficulties paying their bills during the challenging times of undergoing cancer treatments. Our goal is to take away the financial worry from the family, providing a temporary bridge that allows them to focus entirely on beating their disease. In some cases, it is an immediate financial hardship that must be taken care of. Our financial help is for non-medical expenses focusing on the basic necessities to survive. Examples are rent/mortgage payments, car expenses, food expenses, and utility expenses. None of our money raised goes to research. It all goes to the families. We let them know that we are only temporary and not permanent. Our goal is to get them into a financially stable position.
Trinity Church participates in Vickie's Angel Walk to raise money for families fighting cancer.
